Assistant Principal

Position Summary

The Assistant Principal will support the school principal in carrying out duties, such as monitoring school attendance, student and teacher improvement plans, and overall leadership. This role designs and develops plans to improve or eliminate the existing barriers students and teachers experience in the improvement of outcomes.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provides leadership to establish and maintain an instructionally effective school.
  2. Assists the building principal in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of school staff following District policies and procedures.
  3. Analyze data regarding student attendance and develop improvement plans to increase achievement.
  4. Responds to inquiries from students, teachers, and parents regarding attendance and absences.
  5. Communicates with students and their parents to reconcile any issues or confirm excused absences from school.
  6. Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
  7. Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels.
  8. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve teacher practice.
  9. Analyzes teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.
  10. Communicates the district's mission and goals among students, teachers, and the community.
  11. Collaborates with Guidance Counselor and College and Career Coordinator to monitor student academic progress.
  12. Completes and submits all reports within the specified timelines.
  13. Conduct classroom demonstrations to enable teachers to transfer instructional practices learned in professional development sessions to classroom practice.
  14. Grows in professional knowledge and skill through active participation in professional associations and conferences.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or High School Principal.


Qualifications
  • Valid Oklahoma Secondary Administrative Certificate
  • Master's Degree
  • Successful professional experience in educational administration
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding Title II, Title VI, special education, and related services
  • Knowledge of curriculum and program development
  • Knowledge of all areas of child exceptionality
  • Ability to provide leadership in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the special education program
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to develop and promote professional staff relationships
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive parent and community relationships
  • Ability to effectively organize and manage time
