Full Job Description
Job Purpose

This roles mission statement is to "Advance our ability to improve supply chain stability with a single and efficient regional mindset." This contributes to maintaining strong delivery characteristics with a regional viewpoint in order to support smooth production operations across North American manufacturing facilities ensuring customer satisfaction.

Under limited supervision, responsible for supporting NA Crisis mitigation and countermeasure for OEM Suppliers and supporting supplier Delivery performance, in addition to other duties not specified but required for production and/or other core business activities. Participates in broad scope projects and handles critical supplier situations.

Approach to job:
  • Collaborate with Suppliers and other Honda technical leaders to achieve supplier stability
  • Review proposals with leadership for final direction setting
  • Minimize supplier touchpoints thru optimizing activity.
  • Clearly summarize each supplier situation so issue, impact, root cause and CM are clearly escalated


Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and Direct situation appraisal and analysis of a supplier crisis on a specific part or assembly process.
  • Manage and oversee implementation of immediate corrective action plan (short term and long term) at critical suppliers.
  • Escalate communication, interaction and summary reviews with supplier and HDMA Management.
  • Manage critical proactive projects (Capacity Management / LMPR / A-Rank NARS reporting, Shutdown, Etc.)
  • Support reporting and Gemba activity for root cause analysis / countermeasure implementation to solve complex problems w/ attention to closure speed and effectiveness
  • Strive for continuous improvement through cycling Plan Do Check Action (PDCA) for area of responsibility (Capacity and/or Special projects) to ensure associate success
  • Manage a team of direct report associates


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience

Minimum Experience:
  • 8+ YEARS OF RELEVANT ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE

Other Job-Specific Skills:
  • Manufacturing process knowledge (stamping, welding, assembly, material flow, electronics, injection molding, paint, casting, machining, etc)
  • HONDA delivery systems knowledge (GPCS)

Decisions Expected

  • Evaluate and direct plant and model priority during critical supply situations & seek mgt approval of final direction
  • Establish, confirm, and report Supplier Production Plans and Countermeasures in order to support Honda Production


Working Conditions

  • Strong Sense of urgency and flexibility to respond to critical issues and unplanned risk events
  • Ability to travel at moments notice to confirm supplier situation at the spot (33% time)
  • Ability to work in an open office environment, at a suppliers operations, or conduct business virtually where expectations are maintained.
  • Ability to work 1st,2nd, or 3rd shift in a limited basis to support on-site supplier crisis.
  • Ability to work up to 5-15 hours OT each week as needed
