Now hiring Assistant Group Practice Leaders to begin summer of 2024!
Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine invites applications for full time, Assistant Group Practice Leaders (AGPLs) in the KCU Oral Health Center at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The College of Dental Medicine serves patients across the lifespan in the four-state region, expanding access to dental care in this underserved rural area. Faculty must be motivated and engaged clinicians who are excited ensure an innovative and dynamic academic and clinical dental medicine program, educating the next generation of dentists while providing comprehensive care to a rural and diverse group of patients. Assistant Group Practice Leaders work with the Group Practice Leaders (GPLs) and Group Practice Coordinators (GPCs) to oversee the students, patients and staff assigned to their groups and assist in the management of all patient care delivered within the groups. AGPLs play a key role in predoctoral education and clinical operations and student’s achievement of clinical competencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in providing guidance, mentorship and direct clinical supervision to assigned students and promote comprehensive patient care
  • Assists the GPL in the implementation of clinic policies for the clinical management of patients and maintenance of the electronic health record
  • Assist the GPLs with implementing performance measures and maintaining patient documentation and quality control measures
  • Provides didactic and clinical education in the classroom, simulation lab, and/or the Oral Health Center
  • Assures the safe and effective delivery of patient care by the dental students
  • Provides didactic and clinical education to students whether assisting or providing direct care in the classroom, simulation lab, and/or the Oral Health Center
  • Conducts summative and formative student assessment and leading small group seminars
  • Works with the Group Practice Leaders and Group Practice Coordinators to provide patient assignments to pre-doctorial students to ensure a well-rounded experience within the Oral Health Center
  • Comprehends advanced technologies, digital workflow and/or dental implants to support expansion of the advanced technology curricula
  • Participates in the calibration of the group practice faculty
  • Works collaboratively with the pre-doctoral specialty faculty members and adjunct faculty when they are teaching in the pre-doctoral group practices
  • Monitors students’ compliance with CDM’s infection control & clinical guidelines
  • Supervises, educates and coaches students in the provision of patient care
  • Works with clinical examination boards to prepare dental students for the examinations
  • Serves on standing and ad hoc CDM committees

Qualifications:

  • D.D.S./D.M.D. degree
  • Current Missouri dental license or have an active dental license in a US state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
  • Candidates must demonstrate a passion for dentistry, an enthusiasm for dental education, and a strong desire to teach students in a demanding, startup academic environment
