Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
Demonstrates ability to evaluate the quality of care provided to the residents.
Conduct rounds to monitor staff assignments, and resident concerns and makes adjustments as dictated by circumstances and resident needs.
Serves as the Staff Development Educator for on all shifts, all staff.
Serves as the senior clinical manager in the absence of the Director of Nursing and performs duties as designated as assigned.
Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and any observation of employee's performance during work.
Coordinate general orientation for new employees.
Maintain records of content of educational programs/training and attendance
Have knowledge of and ability to apply adult learning principles.
Have working knowledge of the practice acts for each discipline of nursing and is able to assist the staff in each level, to function safely with in these standards.
Demonstrate ability to positively influence staff to perform at their highest level of skill and knowledge and maintain professional appearance and interventions with residents, other staff and community at large.
Serves as the Infection Control Coordinator including data collection, blood borne pathogens standard and precaution/isolation standards.
Monitors the infection control line list and tracks data to identify trends and staff development opportunities.

Qualification of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON):
Must hold a valid Registered Nurse, RN, license.
Needs to have some working knowledge of computers.
Knowledge of the Virtual Gateway is a plus.
Infection Preventionist certification a plus, or be eligible to certify.

Experience of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
At least 4 year of clinical nursing experience.
At least 2 years of progressive management experience in the long-term care setting.
