Assistant Director of Housekeeping

SUMMARY

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Housekeeping department and reports to the Director of Housekeeping. This integral role focuses on managing, maintaining, and improving the housekeeping services. The Assistant Director of Housekeeping leads and ensures the hotel’s service standards are in line with the proper policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties include; although are not limited to:

  • Focusing on the long term vision and direction of the department, including implementing improvements and projects
  • Conducting regular inspections of the hotel to ensure adherence to our cleanliness and maintenance standards
  • Coordinating department activities with other departments to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction
  • Ensuring that all equipment is maintained and used accordingly
  • Following up to ensure all maintenance requests pertaining to guest rooms and departmental equipment are handled in an efficient manner
  • Assisting with the overall financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning of the department
  • Monitoring consumption and ordering replacement of guest and cleaning supplies and reporting discrepancies
  • Assisting with monthly inventory
  • Filling in for Room Attendants and Floor Supervisor if needed
  • Managing the selection, training, and development of Associates, focusing on maximum productivity and Associate and guest satisfaction
  • Providing seamless employee relations with contracted Associates, ensuring proper training and integration into company culture
  • Establishing and maintaining safe working conditions
  • Acting on assignments from the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Creating appropriate relationships with all levels of hotel Associates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Three (3) plus years’ experience in housekeeping within an upscale hotel
  • Basic computational ability required
  • Must have intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Opera preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Budgetary analysis capabilities required
  • Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as manpower, productivity, and other expenses needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility.  Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.

The pay scale for Assistant Director of Housekeeping is $82,000.00 to $85,000.00. The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
