Job Description:

This position will be responsible for supporting activities related to System Administration's and University-wide budgets, implementation and maintenance of budgeting software.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supporting a portfolio of System Administration departments in terms of formulating and tracking annual operating budgets, inclusion in the overall System Administration financial plan, and supporting monthly variance analysis versus actuals reports.
  • Attending and actively participating in weekly operating budget meetings, providing updates as needed on departmental portfolio, and is actively engaged in broader building-wide issues and strategy items as they arise.
  • Maintaining an employee roster for System Administration by individual, tracking and projecting filled and vacant full-time equivalent (FTE) levels as well as related salary levels.
  • Acting as liaison and partner with System Administration Senior Leadership, individual project managers, and the New York State's Division of the Budget (DOB) regarding SUNY's Digital Transformation Project (DTP). This includes monitoring status of identified projects as well as (i) current year actual spending by project, (ii) out-year projections, and (iii) external reporting.
  • Acting as liaison and partner with System Administration Senior Leadership, individual project managers, and the New York State's Division of the Budget (DOB) regarding New York State's Workforce Development Grant from Empire State Development (ESD). This would include monitoring individual program budgets, available spending authority and cash levels, as well as (i) current year actual spending, (ii) out-year projections, and (iii) external reporting.
  • Creating and maintaining a System Administration and University-wide program revenue forecast, updated monthly with variance analysis versus actuals, and out-year projections to be included in the System Administration financial plan.
  • Working with the Director for Departmental Budgets and Support, as well as the other members of System Administration Business and Budget team to identify and potentially implement a budget software package, including working with SUNY's Procurement Office and Office of Information Technology.
  • Represent the Business Office on System Administration working groups as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidates with Business Intelligence/Power BI expertise, and strong Microsoft Excel capabilities.

Additional Information:

  • Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $90,000-$110,000 annually.
  • State Title: Assistant Director (Grade MP3) and is a Management Confidential position.
  • Travel is not required, but occasional off-site professional development may occur.
