Posting Description
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, CARE Team , serves by facilitating the support of students in crisis on behalf of the CARE Team and Support, Wellbeing, and Belonging. The Assistant Director for the CARE Team works in close collaboration with residential lifestaff, undergraduate and graduate student support deans, mental health clinicians, health care providers, and other support resources on and off campus. The Assistant Director will facilitate wellbeing checks, manage student cases through a database system including opening, following through on, and closing of cases, and help support the collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that students are receiving timely attention and follow up. The Assistant Director helps students that are transitioning to/from MIT due to hospitalizations, leaves, and returns.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree with two years of experience in higher education and interest in student support/wellbeing; knowledge of general needs of college students, college student health/mental health, and risk factors for college student population; demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving; ability to advise students and work collaboratively with faculty, administrators and students; desire to work with a diverse population, and an interest in human services and supporting individuals in distress is critical; ability to effectively manage competing priorities, including immediate concerns and routine and longer-term project work; strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to multitask; excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential information; initiative, flexibility and ability to work in a high energy, dynamic environment is necessary; willingness to participate in infrequent unscheduled evening, weekend, and after-hours work; and ability to work with spreadsheets, databases, web software and generally navigate technology. PREFERRED : Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related fields.

Work Conditions: May require moving across campus, moving small boxes and other items, and navigating multiple flights of stairs. Must be able to lift and move boxes, storage bins, and small furniture and to maneuver heavy rolling bins or platform dollies.

This position will start in-person 5 days a week, with a potential for a hybrid four days in-person and one day working from home after an onboarding period. Work from home days need to be flexible.
