Assistant Corporate Controller

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Track & analyze cash position, assist in cash forecasting and reporting of net financial position
  • Prepare, review and analyze financial information to ensure integrity is maintained
  • Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Responsible for preparations of journal entries, reconciliations and consolidated IFRS & GAAP financial reporting package to parent company
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
  • Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
  • Prepare tax worksheets and support schedules
  • Participate in external and internal audits as required
  • Work closely with operational personnel to achieve company objectives in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, Colas internal policies and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and develop internal control procedures
  • Uphold Colas ethics and business principles
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting as needed


Qualifications & Skills

  • A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in accounting, finance or other applicable degree. At least 7 years of accounting work experience is acceptable for this position.
  • Construction industry accounting experience including WIP reporting
  • Strong knowledge of both GAAP and IFRS including revenue recognition and lease accounting standards
  • Previous experience managing a small team.
  • Ideal candidate will have CPA and/or CMA certification.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and follow-up on multiple concurrent tasks
  • Must possess excellent skills with Microsoft Windows and MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook and Excel (intermediate level). Experience with JDE, Sage, Timberline, or other enterprise construction industry software a plus
  • Highly motivated, positive, professional, organized, detail oriented, and an effective communicator
