Assistant Controller in St. John's, NL. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis and Commentary for management review;
  • Prepare Balance sheet and Income Statement Analysis and commentary;
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures;
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
  • Review general ledger activity for accuracy and completeness;
  • Support the completion of the year-end audit, including the preparation of year-end working paper files;
  • Support the preparation of annual divisional budgets and forecasts;
  • Support in the preparation and review of customer invoicing;
  • Work with divisional managers to understand business operations and address accounting-related matters;
  • Assist in the development, training, and mentorship of accounting staff;
  • Assist with departmental workflow planning;
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Bachelors' degree.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Designation, or significant progression towards completion of the CPA program is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive relevant experience, preferably in a large, multi-divisional organization.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, driven to support other team members' success.
  • Ability to work closely with senior management at all levels within the organization.
  • A passion to work in a progressive teamed environment, creating new solutions through extensive application of professional skills.
