Position SummaryThe Senior Director, Assistant Controller is a key finance leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting function, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Controller, this position provides strategic leadership to the accounting team, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, drives continuous process improvement, and supports the Company's growth initiatives, including acquisitions and business integrations.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated CPA with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional leadership capabilities, advanced Excel skills, and a proven ability to improve processes, leverage technology, and develop high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the accounting function, including general accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and create/maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting standards.
- Oversee and strengthen the Company's internal control environment to ensure accurate financial reporting and safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate and lead the annual financial statement audit, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Drive continuous improvement and optimization of the financial close process to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Partner with the Controller and CFO to conduct detailed balance sheet reviews and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
- Leverage Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related technologies to automate processes, improve reporting capabilities, and enhance overall finance operations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized accounting policies and procedures across the enterprise.
- Support strategic initiatives, system implementations, and business transformation efforts.
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting organization while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with FP&A, Sales, Operations, and IT, and other business leaders to support organizational objectives.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
- Demonstrated experience leading financial statement audits.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Proven experience leading, developing, and managing accounting teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Preferred- Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national firm preferred).
- Manufacturing, beverage, consumer products, or distribution industry experience.
- Experience integrating acquired businesses and leading accounting transition activities.
- Experience driving finance transformation, process automation, and system implementations.
We offer a competitive salary of $180-210k. Excellent benefits which include medical, dental and vision. Eligibility in benefit plans begin the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Six (6) days of sick leave; two (2) weeks of vacation accrued throughout the year; nine (9) Company Paid Holidays and a 401K Plan with employer match.
