Overview

We are seeking a detail-driven and strategic Assistant Controller to play a key role in our financial management operations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between high-level financial strategy and day-to-day accounting operations. You will ensure the accuracy of financial records, and streamline processes for corporate accounting, audits, and resource allocation.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close Management

  • Oversee and streamline the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and FAR.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Process payroll and payroll reconciliations.

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate with external auditors to prepare annual audit schedules and tax documentation.
  • Evaluate, update, and implement internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure financial records align with federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.

Team Leadership & System Management

  • Supervise, train, and mentor junior accounting staff.
  • Collaborate with the IT and project management teams to optimize the utilization of ERP/accounting software.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is highly desired.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to an engineering, manufacturing, or construction environment.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is required. Experience with Deltek (Vision and/or VantagePoint) software is heavily valued.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial engineering managers. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are desired.
