Full Job Description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the Controller in overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, and helps drive process improvements. The Assistant Controller will supervise accounting staff, assist with financial close processes, and contribute to strategic financial initiatives.

Location: Camden, NJ (On-site)

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including performance management
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and tax compliance as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience in industry-specific environment
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred


Compensation:
  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $150,000 to $170,000.
