Full Job Description
PQT Ayaquhs, LLC is seeking an Assistant Controller who is self-motivated and possesses a strong administrative background, astute communication skills, and attention to detail. The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller in managing accounting operations for a mid-sized federal government contractor with multiple subsidiaries. This role is responsible for review and support of consolidated financial reporting, project accounting oversight, shared-services/home-office accounting and cost pools, internal controls, audit coordination, and team leadership in a fully remote environment with up to 10% travel.

Expected salary range: $110,000 - $140,000

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close for multiple subsidiaries in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee project accounting activities for government contracts, including contract setup, cost tracking, billing, revenue recognition, unbilled revenue reconciliation, indirect rate application, and margin analysis.
  • Manage shared-services and home-office accounting activities, including intercompany transactions, allocations, and reconciliation processes across subsidiaries.
  • Lead audit execution.
  • Heavily support all other audits, including financial statement audits, tax-related support, and other regulatory or compliance reviews.
  • Prepare and/or oversee annual Incurred Cost Submissions, including supporting schedules, reconciliations, indirect cost rate calculations, and adequacy-related documentation.
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to support compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and company requirements as applicable.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop up to 3-5 employees across accounting and project accounting functions.
  • Partner with finance, contracts, compliance, and operations leaders to improve reporting quality, process efficiency, and audit readiness.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, indirect rate management, and other financial analysis for leadership decision-making.

Work Environment:
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment).
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in federal government contracting.
  • Strong experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading DCAA audits and supporting other audits from planning through resolution.
  • Direct experience preparing and submitting Incurred Cost Submissions/Indirect Cost.
  • Proposals, including related reconciliations and adequacy support.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, indirect rates, FAR, CAS, and government contract compliance requirements.
  • Prior experience supervising accounting and/or project accounting staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and collaborate across multiple entities and functions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard capture and proposal management tools.
  • Must be able to work during EST core business hours. Extended hours will be required during training and payroll processing days.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under tight timelines.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required.
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation including fingerprinting.
  • Due to the financial responsibilities of this role, a credit check will be conducted as part of the pre-employment process. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results

  • Experience with JAMIS ERP.
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience with Tribal or Alaska Native entity owned accounting.
  • BI/Cognos report writing skills.
