Job OverviewThe Assistant Controller / Senior Cost Accountant is a highly visible role that reports directly to the Controller and plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing cost accounting functions, inventory valuation, job costing, financial analysis, and supporting monthly financial reporting. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and implement GAAP-compliant cost accounting practices and initiatives.
- Perform job costing analysis, costing analytics, and inventory reconciliations.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory transactions, and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with the Controller on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Review and maintain best practices related to inventory valuation and overhead allocation.
- Support month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheet and profit and loss analysis.
- Support annual audits and tax reporting requirements.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reporting requests from management and the Board of Directors.
- Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules and record related general ledger entries.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and accounting systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience.
- Manufacturing accounting experience required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems; EPICOR experience is highly preferred.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
