Position Summary
The Assistant Clinical Manager (ACM) coordinates the operations of the patient care area for the shift and manages the patient flow. The ACM applies nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care utilizing evidence based practices. The ACM practices autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights.

Assigns patient assignments to RNs, C.N.A.s, Nurse Externs, and other team members to areas / units within the hospital.

Prepares patientcare or geographic assignments utilizing Relationship Based Care, the total patients is considered in the delivery of care.
The ACM has independent authority to determine assignments on nurse competencies, patient characteristics, patient locations, anticipated admissions / discharges etc.
Participates in the hiring process, performance reviews and disciplinary process of team members on respective unit.

Strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. Ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for that area.

This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under her/his direction). This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives.
The ACM provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care the ACM will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes.

Physical Requirements
Physically able to sit, stand, stoop, and walk for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, and be capable of critical thinking, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 20lbs, carry and lift up to 20lbs.
