Full Job Description
The Assistant City Attorney I provides professional legal services under the direction of the City Attorney or Deputy City Attorney. Responsibilities include prosecuting criminal offenses within the City of Rochester, conducting legal research, preparing and maintaining criminal files, and providing legal advice and opinions to City officials and appropriate parties. This position may also assist with select civil projects or defined civil topics.
Education and Experience: Applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree and be licensed, or immediately eligible for licensure, to practice law in Minnesota.
Individuals who recently took the July 2026 bar exam are encouraged to apply; proof of a passing score is required by October 5, 2026, and/or before an offer is extended.
