Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), this position supports the integration, coordination and direction of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of the hospital. Assists Chief Nursing Officer in ensuring the provision of the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards. Acts as CNO, when needed. Supports nursing and patient care to ensure that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of South Texas Heath System and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The ACNO participates in the hospital's strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The ACNO promotes a culture of Service Excellence with all customer groups. Provides day to day operational oversight for assigned departments. Implements strategy of the CEO, COO, CNO and corporation. Manages assigned departments efficiently and effectively to maximize quality of services and profits of the hospital. Assists with service line and business development activities in the assigned areas of responsibility.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3-5 or more years of progressive nursing management experience in an acute care or Behavioral Health care setting.

2. Must be detail oriented and able to focus on nuances of multiple hospital operations.

3. Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing clinical practices and management within the hospital setting.

4. Extensive knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities. Must be detail oriented and able to focus on nuances of multiple hospital operations.

5. Demonstrated knowledge of effective management and supervisory practices. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

6. Effective communication skills with diverse groups, including physicians, managers, and employees is required.

7. Knowledge of the financial implications of decisions including budgeting and forecasting for a limited number of departments and/or projects is required.

8. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

1. BSN degree required, MSN preferred.

2. Current license or permit to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
