Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project work with in-house and external engineering teams.
  • Develop and review construction packages to meet code and standards.
  • Provide field construction support and sign off on final installations.

What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide project management and E&I technical engineering services for a refinery process operations team. Projects include small capital and expense projects needed to properly maintain and optimize existing operating units. Projects typically range in size from $20,000 - $5,000,000. Management of multiple projects concurrently is required.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Applying project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout.
  • Managing multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensures compliance with Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI), and mechanical integrity documentation. Coordinates with external engineering consultants and designers to complete projects and studies cost-effectively.
  • Defining scope, developing cost estimates and schedules, and securing funding approval from management for small capital and expense projects.
  • Coordinating project specific work with in-house designers and outside engineering contractors.
  • Developing and reviewing construction packages to ensure new installations meet MPC and all applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Specifying and purchasing of electrical/instrument engineered material for assigned projects.
  • Providing field construction support and final project installation sign-off.
  • Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project life cycle
  • Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives.
  • Providing E&I technical support on multi-discipline projects.
  • Providing E&I support, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills for refinery process operations teams.
  • Participating in area HAZOP and LOPA reviews and incident investigations.
  • Providing E&I assistance to the Area Teams during process unit Turnarounds


Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited by ABET) is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience with process measurement and control, instrument equipment, safety instrumented system (SIS) design, electrical area classification, management of change (MOC) processes, and industry standards (NFPA, ISA, IEEE, NEMA, API, etc.).
  • Strong organizing, planning, critical thinking, and communication skills. With the ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic refining environment.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
