Area Medical Director- Northwest Indiana

The Role

The Area Medical Director provides clinical oversight and collaboration for Providers across Midwest Express Clinic locations in accordance with Indiana and Illinois state regulatory requirements. This role supports safe, high-quality patient care through provider collaboration, chart review, clinical guidance, and oversight of prescribing practices and clinical protocols.

What You'll Own

Clinical Oversight & Collaboration
  • Provide physician supervision and collaboration for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for providers regarding patient care, treatment planning, and escalation support.
  • Support providers in delivering evidence-based urgent care services aligned with organizational standards.

Chart Review & Compliance
  • Conduct required chart reviews and prescribing oversight in accordance with state collaborative practice requirements.
  • Review documentation, prescribing patterns, and clinical decision-making for quality and compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with Indiana and Illinois collaborative/supervisory agreement requirements.
  • Maintain and execute supervising/collaborative agreements in accordance with applicable state laws and organizational standards.

Clinical Support
  • Assist with management of complex patient cases and clinical escalations.
  • Support development and maintenance of clinical protocols and workflows.
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical leadership to promote patient safety and consistency of care.
  • May periodically visit clinic locations to support providers, observe workflows, and reinforce clinical standards.

Coverage & Accessibility
  • Remain available to collaborating providers during clinic operating hours in accordance with applicable state regulations.
  • Coordinate physician coverage when unavailable.


What We're Looking For
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Active unrestricted medical license in Indiana and/or Illinois as required.
  • DEA registration required.
  • Urgent care, family medicine, or emergency medicine experience preferred.
  • Prior APP supervision or collaboration experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and communication skills.

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is [$275,000/year - $300,000/year], depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
