Job Title: Area Manager

Reports To: Director of Operations

Job Purpose

An Area Manager is a strategic leader within an operations Area and its associated team members. An Area Manager works across the company to ensure operational safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met and improved upon over time. An Area Manager is a dynamic leader that works collaboratively with other departments to solve issues and establish best practices to exceed customer expectations.

The Job Title listed empowers the Incumbent with the authority to execute all duties and responsibilities listed below. In the event of a conflict of authority, the Incumbent shall elevate to direct supervisor for resolution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds, develops, and empowers their operations team through servant leadership and excellent communication skills. This results in an engaged and high performing team.
  • Directly leads a team of 20+ team members who cover all aspects of operation in the Area. Responsible for their team's interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, promotions, and discipline. Team members may include some direct salary reports.
  • Oversees manufacturing Areas and ensures collaboration between them
  • Directly manages Team Lead role(s) in the Area and empowers them to lead the team(s)
  • Creates goals and objectives for the Area and works closely with the team to be aligned.
  • Develops talent of team members in the Area and encourages career advancement through the attainment of new knowledge and skills.
  • Champions lean manufacturing and continuous improvement throughout the Area by driving to root causes and working collaboratively to solve tough challenges.
  • Drives improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost by engaging their team and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Champions safety initiatives and is constantly looking for ways to make the workplace safer to work in.
  • Responsible for the execution and management of the production schedules in the Area to ensure on-time delivery to internal and external customers.
  • Performs audits and inspections on equipment, areas, processes, finished products, and tracks these interactions per the process.
  • Recommend and follows through on updates to operational processes and audits.
  • Works on any additional tasks or special projects as assigned


Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead team members and colleagues required
  • Strong project management skills including effectively leading cross functional teams required
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Organized, Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and ability to work with minimal supervision required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand data and measurements
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products required
  • 5 or more years of experience in a Leadership role in manufacturing is preferred
  • Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints is required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing experience required
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety experience is preferred
  • Experience working in an ISO9001 manufacturing site is preferred


Working Conditions*

  • Mostly standing and walking. Desk and computer work may be required for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carrying up to 50 lbs. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting. Periodic travel less than 3x per year may be required.
