JOB SUMMARY

The Area Manager is responsible for the supervising and handling of all sales, warehousing, and distribution functions at the branch, in coordination with the Head Office. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Area Manager will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Plan, and direct the daily operations of the branch including manage staff and assign duties
• Oversee employee schedules to maximize workload distribution and ensure all shifts covered
• Study trends to determine Client demand, potential increase in volumes
• Develop team to fulfill Client requirements and respond to client concerns / complaints
• Recruit and train staff with assistance from Human Resources & Safety Dept.
• Orientate each new hire on the basics of the facility and explain the training schedule
• Train employees on the importance of safe work practices including proper use of equipment, cleaning guidelines and WHMIS procedures
• Create and maintain employee schedules and review and approve timecards
• Submit bi-weekly payroll info (timecards, payroll changes, new hires, and terminations) to Human Resources/Director if approvals are required.
• Monitor the performance of staff, complete employee performance reviews for branch
• Enforce progressive discipline policy with counselling sessions and written warnings as needed.
• Conduct suspension and termination meetings, in conjunction with Management.
• Maintain various reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
• Keep lines of communication opened between Head Office and branch
• Review and maintain inventory procedures and proper stocking. Identify discrepancies between inventory records and take action.
• Respond to maintenance needs and perform fuel audits
• Provide feedback regarding customer opinions, usage trends, and other pertinent information.
• Maintain the building, equipment, and property of the camp.
• Dispatch fuel trucks while dispatch is off shift
• Enforce all company policies and procedures and follow all regulatory requirements from all governing legislation.
• Comply with all HSE policies, practices, and procedures.
• Lead and/or attend weekly safety meetings
• Create incident reports in the event of an accident or near miss
• Develop and/or enforce corporate policies regarding security and safety to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.
• Communicate all delays or variances in inbound/outbound freight to the appropriate parties
• Maintain, review, and adjust fuel levels inventories in area to be within min max criteria.
• Ensure all legislated permits are acquired and kept in good standing
• Participate in budget planning for volume, revenue, truck utilization and forecasting
• Manage/Facilitate lease operator relationships
• Report/Assist in troubleshooting equipment assigned to branch and area including cardlocks and product delivery equipment
• Perform internal and external sales of AFD services
• Provide weekly reports on sales / customer trends / complaints
• Conduct inspections of Cardlock / Tank Farm and schedule maintenance/repairs as required
• Assist with Fuel / Lubricant deliveries when required
• Assist with daily operations / coverage when required
• Other related duties as required or assigned.

OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)
• Experience working with major fuel providers considered an asset
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail required
• Management and / or supervisory experience
• Professional written and verbal communication skills

EXPEREINCE

5+ years' experience in Senior Management role

EDUCATION

Post-Secondary Degree in Business Management preferred

High School Diploma required
