Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year. The successful candidate will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to Pecos, Texas. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

In this role you will coordinate and update survey strategy, and provide technical support as required to the construction team while reporting directly to the Project Surveying Manager. You will perform survey field engineering functions in support of a broad spectrum of construction activities. You will use design drawings, 3D models and specifications to determine associated commodity locations. You will support all field engineer and superintendent disciplines with field verification surveys and other technical support as needed and appropriate. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads in a broad range of construction work within the surveying discipline
  • Supports the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
  • Directs surveying activities of the assigned construction survey staff, ensuring
  • compliance with procedures
  • Provide Technical Survey support to Field Engineering and Supervision Teams as appropriate
  • Ensures the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs
  • Ensures work methods planned and executed safely
  • Reviews in coordinating and resolving engineering, and construction problems with Superintendents or other project personnel
  • Oversees survey calculations and survey reports for all project disciplines/scope
  • Possesses responsibility for ensuring compliance with procedures
  • Develops a process for tracking and maintaining survey equipment measuring and
  • test equipment (M&TE) records
  • Responsible for Survey Monitoring and Settlement program
  • Coordinates weekly scheduled work plans with discipline superintendents to ensure the project has the survey resources available with the proper qualifications to support the planned work scopes
  • Ensure the Survey personnel assigned to each task have the skill sets necessary to execute the work safely and effectively
  • Prepare as-built reports for bolts, embeds, and other miscellaneous items


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Prior Industrial, Commercial and/or Heavy Civil Construction Survey experience
  • Prior Bechtel Surveying Experience
  • Knowledge of Construction Surveying Principles
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work ethic and work environment.
  • Two or more years of Survey CAD drafting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors and survey functional management
  • Effective communication skills to motivate and present plans to team members in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated experience with Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels and GNSS surveys systems.
  • Ability to work under time constraints, changing conditions, and with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Experience with UAV (drone) technology
  • Experience supporting heavy equipment machine control technology
