Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Architecture Department Manager with a passion for design and mentorship to join our growing team. The candidate will ultimately have experience in Federal projects and a desire to lead and mentor the Architecture Team in Virginia Beach, VA.

  • Maintains liaison with units and individuals inside and outside the organization.
  • Performs various management and leadership responsibilities.
  • Works collaboratively with managers and other team members to achieve AECOM's mission.
  • Work with the Managing Principal to create discipline workplans to meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule.
  • Review Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and develop fee proposals for project pursuits.
  • Responsible for providing architectural design, guidance, calculations, analysis, studies, and specialized project-based design recommendations.
  • Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge to lead and manage various size groups of architects, designers, and/or specialists.
  • Will lead projects of various sizes and types as the Project Architect.
  • Maintains conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, technical and industry standards for design and construction.
  • Reviews team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirements.
  • Leads Aspiring Architects in design and development of professional growth.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Architecture plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
  • Registered Architecture (RA) License is required.
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of strong technical skills and demonstrated experience in all phases of architecture project delivery
  • 8+ years of experience working on large-scale projects, preferably federal government (Department of Defense), Public Safety, and Municipal project experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate a collaborative environment.
  • Diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices.
  • Experience leading Design/Build projects.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both spoken and written.

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.

  • May require travel out of the area based on project requirements.
