Job Description Summary: The Architect, Workday Financial Systems serves as the senior functional and solution architecture lead for Workday Financials. This role provides strategic oversight, system design, configuration leadership, and operational guidance to ensure Workday supports finance operations, accounting, reporting, controls, integrations, data governance, and ongoing business transformation. The Architect partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Technology, and business leadership to deliver secure, scalable, compliant, and business-aligned solutions.
Job Description: Primary Responsibilities- Serve as the functional architect and design authority for Workday Financials, including Core Financials, Foundation Data Model, Accounting, Expenses, Supplier & Customer Accounts, Banking, Business Assets, Projects, Adaptive, Accounting Center, Prism, Reporting, and Security.
- Lead end-to-end solution design for finance processes, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, financial controls, audit requirements, and business strategy.
- Partner with Finance and Technical stakeholders to evaluate business needs, define requirements, recommend best-practice solutions, and translate complex concepts into clear business guidance.
- Own Workday configuration strategy, design standards, documentation, governance, and release management for financial systems.
- Review, prioritize, and deliver enhancements, optimization initiatives, new feature adoption, and process automation opportunities.
- Provide leadership for testing, regression planning, data validation, production support, issue resolution, and post-deployment stabilization.
- Collaborate with integration, reporting, security, and data teams to ensure solutions are accurate, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Design configuration process maps and financial systems governance artifacts
- Monitor Workday releases and recommend adoption strategies that improve efficiency, reporting, compliance, and user experience.
- Mentor analysts and administrators, establish standards for solution design, and promote continuous improvement across the financial systems function.
- Lead discovery sessions, facilitate design decisions, document requirements, and influence stakeholders across Finance and Technology.
- Manage multiple priorities, lead complex initiatives, and work independently with sound judgment
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Workday Pro Certification in Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Quote to Cash, Prism/Reporting, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in Workday Financials
- Extensive hands-on experience configuring, supporting, and maintaining Workday Financials in a complex enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial operations, internal controls, compliance requirements, and period-close processes.
- Demonstrated experience designing end-to-end financial business processes and cross-functional Workday solutions.
- Experience with Workday security, reporting, data structures, testing, release management, and operational support models.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
This position is an exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $130,000-$150,000 base salary compensation range. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
