WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR? Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. The following responsibilities will be in your domain: - Leading and supporting the planning and implementation of fisheries and aquatic assessment projects and field programs across Canada. - Conducting assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating elements in areas such as geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities. - Contributing aquatics expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with senior staff, clients, government agencies, First Nations, regulators, and other project partners. - Mentoring junior team members and supporting knowledge sharing within the aquatic sciences team. - Representing Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences. THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Advanced degree in a relevant field. - P.Bio. (or equivalent professional designation), or eligibility for registration - Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including fish collection using various methods, fish community characterization, and assessment of fish population and health data. - Strong knowledge of statistical analysis - Experience in the mining sector is an asset. - Experience in habitat characterization for Fisheries Act Authorizations and specialist-level knowledge of habitat requirements for Canadian freshwater fish species. - Experience designing and implementing baseline assessment programs, including the selection, establishment, and monitoring of water, sediment, fish, fish habitat, and benthic invertebrate community sampling stations. - Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, and ability to ensure the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals. - Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders. - Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. - Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics. - Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using a variety of sampling techniques for water, sediment, benthic invertebrates, fish, and fish habitat, including the design, establishment, and sampling of benthic invertebrate community monitoring stations; familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards. - Experience operating boats and outboard motors in support of aquatic field programs is an asset. - Ability and willingness to travel to remote or northern project sites and conduct fieldwork in variable weather, terrain, and seasonal conditions.
