Summary of Job Duties:
The PA/APRN supports an Adult Facial Plastics service within an academic Level I trauma center. Responsibilities include first assist in the OR, ED and inpatient consults (including trauma activations), complex facial laceration repair, inpatient continuity and discharge coordination, outpatient clinic care (independent and as an extender), and statewide phone triage tofacilitatetimelyfollow-up. The role includes collaboration with residents/fellows and opportunities for teaching and quality improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

APRN

• Masters Degree in Nursing
• Three years of nursing experience
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
• APRN License
• Acute Care Certification

PA

• Master's in PA Studies
• PA Licensure
• National certification (PA-C or AGACNP-BC/ACNPC-AG).

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

• First assist for adult facial plastic procedures (reconstructive and aesthetic, as credentialed).
• Pre-op planning, consents per policy, equipment/implant readiness, intra-op assistance, and post-op orders.
• Close collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safety, efficiency, and protocol adherence.Emergency Department and Hospital Consults
• Perform urgent and emergent ED consults for facial plastics/ENT-related conditions, including Level I trauma activationsas appropriate to scope.
• Independently perform complex facial laceration repair and bedside wound management (e.g., layered closure, debridement,hemostasis, dressing care) per privileging.
• Conduct inpatient consults, formulate assessments and plans, coordinate imaging/labs, and escalate to attending as indicated.
• Determine disposition (bedside management vs. OR) and coordinate transitions of care.
• Daily rounding, progress notes, order entry, care coordination, and discharge planning/education.
• Ensure safe handoffs and timely outpatient follow-up after discharge.
• Evaluate new and established patients: histories, focused exams, treatment planning, documentation.
• Provide post-op care, wound checks, suture removal, scar care, and minor procedures per privileging.
• Function independently and as an extender under collaborative practice agreements and protocols.
• Provide statewide phone triage for symptom assessment, red-flag identification, and disposition.
• Facilitate expedited outpatient appointments and, when needed, transfer coordination in collaboration with the attending and
• access teams.
• Teach and collaborate with residents, fellows, students, and APP learners in ED, OR, and clinic settings.
• Participate in M&M, QA/PI initiatives, protocol development, and evidence-based practice updates.
• Contribute to data collection/registries and research activities as interested and applicable.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and coding.
• Adhere to institutional policies, EMTALA requirements, trauma protocols, and infection control standards.
• Support on-call coverage for ED/inpatient consults as scheduled.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
