Under the general supervision of the County Assessor and Property Services Supervisor, this position supports the mission of the Property and Public Services Department by providing quality and efficient services to the public. This position provides accurate estimates of value for property in Nicollet County. This position also performs a variety of property appraisal tasks such as views, inspects, and values property and updates department records; responds to information requests regarding properties and to concerns regarding property assessments; seeks to resolve disagreements and disputes by analyzing property sales data; and, updates records regarding property splits. The Appraiser must make sound decisions and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Attends the local Board of Appeal and Equalization meetings as needed; acts as an advisor and consultant to the Board; may assist the County Assessor to investigate and report on any assessment order
- Calculates new construction changes and provides value estimates for proposed residential improvements and developments county-wide
- Conducts property research and prepares special reports
- Evaluates properties; classifies all property to appropriate classes
- Performs equalization and appraisal of properties county-wide
- Responds to taxpayers' requests for information
Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience:- Valid MN Driver's License, and
- Two (2) years of formal training in tech or associate's degree, and
- One (1) year of experience, OR
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
- Must have the ability to obtain a Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) license within three (3) years of hire; and
- Must have the ability to obtain an Accredited Minnesota Assessor (AMA) license within five (5) years of hire; and
- Must have valid Minnesota driver's license, and have an automobile for county-related business.
