What You'll DoAs the Aluminum Applications Engineer, you will:
- Serve as the primary application expert for aluminum wire products and welding processes.
- Provide application support, technical recommendations, troubleshooting assistance, and product expertise to the Aluminum Business Unit, ITW Welding organization, sales teams, channel partners, and end users.
- Support growth initiatives and customer retention efforts through technical project leadership and application expertise.
- Perform product evaluations and create key application and performance data to support customer requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports on product evaluations, field testing, and customer projects.
- Consult with customers remotely and onsite to identify challenges and implement solutions that optimize welding performance and value.
- Conduct technical training sessions, both theoretical and hands-on, for internal teams, distributors, and end users.
- Perform competitive analysis of welding products and technologies within the marketplace.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key manufacturing and welding process variables that impact final product quality.
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve manufacturing weld lab procedures, testing protocols, and laboratory personnel activities.
- Analyze returned products and support root cause investigations and corrective action efforts.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through technical expertise, data analysis, and problem solving.
What We're Looking ForMinimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering is required.
- Strong application knowledge of welding processes and manufacturing technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with customers to understand technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed, data-driven recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and training capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to successful completion.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and customer groups.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience within the aluminum welding industry.
- Knowledge of aluminum welding products, wire applications, and related manufacturing processes.
- Prior experience in welding applications engineering, technical sales support, product development, or customer-facing technical roles.
