Are you a Welding Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with customers, and driving innovation in manufacturing applications? Join our team as an Aluminum Applications Engineer and become a trusted technical expert supporting industry-leading aluminum welding products.

In this highly visible role, you will serve as the subject matter expert for aluminum wire products and welding processes, collaborating with customers, distributors, sales teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver technical solutions that improve performance, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

As the Aluminum Applications Engineer, you will:
  • Serve as the primary application expert for aluminum wire products and welding processes.
  • Provide application support, technical recommendations, troubleshooting assistance, and product expertise to the Aluminum Business Unit, ITW Welding organization, sales teams, channel partners, and end users.
  • Support growth initiatives and customer retention efforts through technical project leadership and application expertise.
  • Perform product evaluations and create key application and performance data to support customer requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports on product evaluations, field testing, and customer projects.
  • Consult with customers remotely and onsite to identify challenges and implement solutions that optimize welding performance and value.
  • Conduct technical training sessions, both theoretical and hands-on, for internal teams, distributors, and end users.
  • Perform competitive analysis of welding products and technologies within the marketplace.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify key manufacturing and welding process variables that impact final product quality.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve manufacturing weld lab procedures, testing protocols, and laboratory personnel activities.
  • Analyze returned products and support root cause investigations and corrective action efforts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through technical expertise, data analysis, and problem solving.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering is required.
  • Strong application knowledge of welding processes and manufacturing technologies.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with customers to understand technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed, data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and training capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects to successful completion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and customer groups.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the aluminum welding industry.
  • Knowledge of aluminum welding products, wire applications, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Prior experience in welding applications engineering, technical sales support, product development, or customer-facing technical roles.
