Job Title: Application Programmer

Work Location: Hybrid, VA

Alpha Omega is looking for an Application Programmer to join our team supporting one of our government customer. The Application Programmer 1 is an entry-level software development position responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting applications and software solutions. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with **Node.js, Python, and GitHub** and will work closely with senior developers, analysts, and other technical team members to deliver reliable and maintainable applications.

Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, modify, test, and maintain applications using **Node.js and Python**.

* Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code.

* Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

* Use **Git and GitHub** for source-code management, branching, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative development.

* Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

* Create and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.

* Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA staff, and system administrators to resolve technical issues and deliver software enhancements.

* Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices.

* Document application functionality, technical processes, and development procedures.

* Assist with application deployments and production support activities.

* Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and development practices as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience /Skills:

* 3-5 years of related experience.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality software.

* Ability to understand existing code and make enhancements without disrupting current functionality.

* Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical team members.

* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.

* Willingness to learn new technologies and development techniques.

* Ability to work collaboratively in a source-controlled development environment.

* Experience developing applications with **Node.js**.

* Experience programming with **Python**.

* Working knowledge of **Git and GitHub**, including repositories, branches, commits, pull requests, and basic code-review practices.

* Understanding of software development concepts, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming.

* Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a development team.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Docusaurus or another Node.js web framework.

* Experience with Python.

* Familiarity with GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools.

* Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

* Experience with automated testing frameworks.

* Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $87,000- $107,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
