Title:Applications Engineer - Rail

As an Applications Engineer for Rail, you will support customers with installation and development projects for new and repowered equipment. Provide project management support from concept through delivery. You will be accountable for ensuring that customer commitments are met in full, measured against agreed HSE, quality, cost, delivery, people, and responsiveness standards.

Position Summary:

Responsible for managing Rail system projects from concept to delivery, understanding customer needs, and ensuring compliance with processes across North and Latin America. Acts as a technical liaison between sales, development, and our customers which include Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and our distribution network. Ensures accurate documentation, process adherence, and alignment with company policies, ethics, and business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical sales and engineering support, analyze customer requirements, develop tailored solutions, and deliver product training for sales teams, distributors, and strategic customers.
  • Lead Rail system projects from concept to delivery, overseeing scheduling, budgeting, design, prototyping, SAP scope of supply, product modelling, validation and field testing.
  • Support emissions compliance testing, manage engines and automation portfolios, gather customer requirements for new Rail products, and track resolution of engine issues.
  • Release customer-specific engine calibrations within engineering limits, provide field and commissioning support, assist with troubleshooting and acceptance testing, and support hazard and risk analyses.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Rail documentation, including maintenance schedules and parts catalogs.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical / electrical.
  • Five (5) years of experience with installation, start-up, and testing of diesel engines
  • Strong familiarity with Rail equipment and operations
  • Excellent knowledge of principles and operation of internal Combustion Engines (ICE)
  • Ability to travel - domestic and international (50%)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong project management experience
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Familiarity with CAN bus protocols and tools
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software
