Department Summary

POSITION HIRE IS CONTINGENT ON CONTNUED FUNDING.

APEX Multi-Regional Director The APEX Multi-Regional Director manages and directs ten (10) APEX regions which encompasses seven (7) offices and 61 counties within the State of Ohio to deliver quality, cost effective and expeditious counseling to clients to assist clients with obtaining government contracts within the APEX Accelerator region covered by Ohio University. The APEX Multi-Regional Director directly manages three (3) Associate Directors, responsible for six (6) full-time and (1) part-time Procurement Specialists.

This position is responsible for supervision, training, compliance and oversight of general counseling on business development and must encompass knowledge of how to create professional relationships with government program managers and contracting officers, as well as with prime contractors. A comprehensive knowledge of best business practices specifically for performing on government contracts is required. This shall include a pragmatic knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, as well as State of Ohio and local procurement regulations and procedures. Responsible for management of a 3,200 + business database, receiving $2 billion in government contract awards.

This position manages, plans, prepares, maintains, and monitors a current annual budget of approximately $1.7 Million and is responsible for yearly grant proposal preparation and submission. The APEX Multi Regional Director will also work with other University Departments to begin new programs, such as the Ohio Procurement Internship Program (OPIP) for the advancement of both students and Ohio businesses.

The job requires frequent travel throughout the service region to serve clients and partners. Also requires travel to attend meetings and programs.

Position Profile

Oversees designated research program, center, or facility and related activities. Manages assigned budget and/or financial responsibilities for program. Evaluates program and provides strategic recommendations for change as needed. Represents program to internal and external contacts. Collaborates with University schools, departments, units regarding program. May be responsible for staff management, compliance monitoring, and writing/reviewing research protocols.

Level Summary

Oversees the strategic planning and execution of diverse activities within a larger functional area of the institution. Leads and directs significant programs through subordinate managers, setting overall strategies and objectives for the area. Contributes to the development of University-wide strategies. Accountable for ensuring that long-term goals are met and communicating the department's alignment with institutional objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages multiple departments or functions. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.

Fiscal Responsibilities

Responsible for large-scale budgets and strategic fiscal management for multiple work units or large academic unit.

Problem Solving

Handles significant organizational problems, often with long-term impact.

Independence of Action

Operates with significant autonomy, drives company-wide initiatives.

Communication and Collaboration

Influences and collaborates with senior leadership and internal/external stakeholders to drive organizational goals.

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a Master's degree in a related field, 10 or more years of related professional experience, and 7 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience. Healthcare professionals must hold, or be eligible for, appropriate licensure as required by position.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer that the master's degree that is required is in business, materials management, public administration or related discipline or any master's degree plus equivalent experience.
