Job Summary:

The Department of Anesthesiology at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting a Anesthesiology Researcher

The ideal candidate will guide an independent research program advancing an aspect of anesthesiology research. In addition, mentoring of trainees and junior faculty will be a high priority. The candidate will be expected to maintain their own extramurally funded research program.

  • This position is full or part-time FTE 75-100%
  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location
  • Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Professor or Associate Professor or Assistant Professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.


Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Leadership. Along with leading their independent laboratory personnel and department learners, the candidate will be also aid in the development and implementation of the department's long term strategic direction for the basic, clinical, and translational research programs. This includes efforts to promote and enhance research collaboration and the development of team research projects.
  • Clinical Service. Physician applicants will be given the opportunity, and in many cases expected to, provide clinical service related to their training.
  • The chosen applicant will participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
  • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Teaching and Mentoring. The candidate will provide instruction, mentoring, and support for faculty, fellows, residents, and students who are interested and/or involved in research. Educational opportunities may include didactic teaching in the department, the medical school, and the graduate school.
  • Research. The candidate will be be expected to develop/maintain an independent, funded laboratory in a field related to anesthesiology.
  • The chosen candidate will spend time teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
