Full Job Description
Job Description
  • Core Focus: Perform detailed strength assessments, stress analyses, and design validation for manufacturing tooling and Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Responsibilities:
  • Strength Assessments: Perform classical analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for tooling, GSE, structural components, mechanical/actuated systems, and fluid systems.
  • Documentation & Release: Review and document stress analyses to facilitate the release of engineering drawings and configuration documentation.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Mentor tooling designers on industry best practices regarding stress, stability, and fracture analysis.
  • Technical Consulting: Provide guidance on design concepts, identifying technical risks, costs, and performance trade-offs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Supply inputs for design development, cross-functional trade studies, and serve as the technical point of contact for vendor-developed tooling projects.

Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering (minimum) with 8+ years of experience analyzing GSE or tooling in the aerospace, automotive, or similar industries.
  • FEA & Modeling: Experience building and validating finite element models (FEMs) using Ansys or NX Simulation with Nastran (1D, 2D, and 3D elements).
  • Hand Calculations: Proficiency with free-body diagrams, simplifying structural problems, and analyzing steel/aluminum tooling via hand calculations.
  • Joint Analysis: Expert proficiency in bolted joint calculations (preload, joint stiffness, shear-tension interaction) and welded joint calculations (weld sizing, effective throat, failure modes).
  • Industry Codes: Familiarity with applicable structural codes and standards (e.g., AISC-360, ASME B30 & 31, ASME BTH-1).
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to build trust, maintain professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Desired:
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Software: Proficiency with Creo and/or Siemens NX CAD software.
  • Communication & Management: Strong customer focus, self-motivated multi-tasking abilities, and the capacity to communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Project Delivery: A proven track record of successful project delivery within multidisciplinary teams.
