For more information on the hiring preference visit www.yukon.ca/hiring-preference.The Analyst - Research and Publication is responsible for the compilation and analyses of data and the production of briefing/information notes and publications on a comprehensive array of topics. In addition, the position involves researching information; monitoring information releases by Statistics Canada; maintaining accurate methodology notes and metadata related to statistical releases; responding to requests for statistical information; publishing data products to Yukon government websites, associated data platforms, and social media accounts; and other related functions.
Key duties:
- Compiling and analyzing data;
- Preparing briefing and information notes;
- Developing reports and publications on topics covering demographic, economic, employment, housing, and social statistics for Yukon and its communities.
Your ability to write clear reports to present results of data analysis with context and identify any inconsistencies in the data will be important. Your attention to detail, collaborative approach, and commitment to client service will be key to your success in this role.
In this role, you will be supported to learn about data releases from Statistics Canada and other agencies; evaluate their relevance; and deliver meaningful insights related to the social and economic conditions in Yukon. You will also have opportunities to enhance your skills in research and analysis as you respond to requests for statistical information, and work with counterparts at Statistics Canada on various data-related issues.

- Bachelor's degree in business, economics or a relevant social science discipline.
- Experience in researching and compiling statistical information, and advanced analysis of data with Excel, as well as with R and/or Python.
- Experience in deriving insights from statistical information and writing reports.
- Experience in maintaining and updating data and analytical files, including metadata.
- Experience responding to client requests for statistical information and providing guidance on data quality, methodology, and appropriate use.
- Certifications and experience in data analytics, data manipulation, and desktop publishing applications (e.g., Adobe InDesign) may be considered an asset.
- Experience working in a statistical agency maybe considered an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
