About the Role:

IMAX is seeking a Business Analyst to bridge business functions, technology teams, data teams, project management, and senior leadership in defining and delivering technology-enabled business solutions. Reporting to the Sr. Director, PPO, this role will translate complex business needs into structured requirements, improve business processes, support solution design and delivery, and help ensure technology investments generate measurable business value.

The ideal candidate is a strong facilitator and problem solver who can bring structure to ambiguity, align business and technical stakeholders, and navigate competing priorities. They will work across functions including Finance, Theatre Operations, Technical Services, Global Services/Inventory, Film Distribution, Data & Analytics, HR, and Information Technology to develop practical, scalable solutions that support enterprise priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

• Lead discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with business and technology stakeholders.
• Translate complex business problems into clear functional, non-functional, reporting, security, data, and integration requirements.
• Develop and maintain business requirements, functional requirements, use cases, scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
• Define project scope, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, risks, and out-of-scope items.
• Facilitate requirements reviews and approvals with business owners, IT sponsors, technical SMEs, and executive stakeholders.
• Maintain requirements traceability from initial business need through design, development, testing, and implementation.
• Evaluate change requests and assess downstream impacts to scope, systems, data, and business processes.
• Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous or evolving business requirements so that development and architecture teams can execute effectively.

Business Process Transformation

• Document and analyze current-state business processes across functions and systems.
• Identify manual activities, duplicate entry, control gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Partner with business SMEs, architects, and application teams to design scalable future-state processes.
• Develop process flows, system interaction diagrams, and current-state versus future-state assessments.
• Define roles, handoffs, system triggers, approvals, exception handling, and data flows.
• Assess the operational impact of proposed system and process changes.
• Help ensure proposed solutions align with existing enterprise processes, controls, and strategic objectives.

Enterprise Systems & Integration Analysis

• Analyze requirements involving multiple enterprise applications, business functions, and technology platforms.
• Partner with solution architects and technical SMEs to define system interfaces and integration requirements.
• Document source and target systems, data mappings, status mappings, business rules, triggers, and synchronization requirements.
• Identify requirements related to data consistency, reconciliation, error handling, auditability, and operational visibility.
• Coordinate requirements across internal applications, vendor platforms, and third-party technology providers.
• Assess upstream and downstream business impacts when changes are introduced into enterprise applications.

Data, Analytics & AI

• Translate business analytics and reporting needs into structured data requirements.
• Partner with data architects, BI teams, and developers to define data attributes, dimensions, metrics, and business rules.
• Establish governed metric definitions and help ensure calculations reflect approved business logic.
• Analyze AI-generated outputs to identify issues involving interpretation, data retrieval, business logic, or response quality.
• Define business requirements for AI agents, natural-language analytics, and automated business-query solutions.
• Support prompt and response analysis to identify recurring issues and opportunities to improve AI models, orchestration, and business outcomes.
• Translate complex data and technical concepts into clear language that business stakeholders can evaluate and approve.

Business Value & Investment Analysis

• Partner with project teams and business stakeholders to quantify expected benefits from technology initiatives.
• Identify opportunities related to direct cost savings, labor and time savings, cost avoidance, risk reduction, operational improvement, and revenue-related benefits.
• Develop or support business cases and technology investment assessments.
• Review project CAPEX and evaluate investment requirements against expected business value.
• Establish measurable baseline and future-state KPIs.
• Track expected versus realized benefits following implementation.
• Communicate financial, operational, and strategic value to senior leadership.

Testing, Validation & Delivery

• Translate approved requirements into acceptance criteria and business test scenarios.
• Support development and QA teams in resolving requirement questions throughout delivery.
• Coordinate with business stakeholders during User Acceptance Testing.
• Validate that delivered functionality satisfies approved requirements and business objectives.
• Support defect triage and help determine whether issues represent defects, requirement gaps, or change requests.
• Support business teams through implementation and production validation.
• Confirm that process, reporting, data, and integration outcomes align with the approved future state.
• Support post-implementation reviews and identify opportunities for future enhancement.

Stakeholder Leadership & Change Enablement

• Facilitate workshops involving business SMEs, senior leadership, project managers, architects, developers, and external vendors.
• Build alignment among stakeholders with differing business, operational, and technical priorities.
• Challenge assumptions and help clarify ambiguous requirements.
• Escalate unresolved decisions, risks, and dependencies when required.
• Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate requirements involving external service providers and third-party technology vendors.
• Prepare decision materials and recommendations for VP- and SVP-level stakeholders.
• Develop training materials and deliver knowledge-transfer sessions to end users and business teams.
• Support adoption of new systems, processes, and ways of working.
• Guide junior analysts, share Business Analysis best practices, and lead cross-functional continuous-improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Business Analysis or a related role.
• Experience with requirements gathering, process modelling, enterprise systems, and system integrations.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Power BI, and process-modelling standards such as BPMN or UML.

Preferred

• Experience with SAP or other large-scale ERP platforms.
• Experience with data, analytics, AI, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Experience supporting business cases, ROI, KPIs, or technology investment decisions.
• Experience working with third-party vendors or mentoring junior analysts.
• CBAP, CCBA, or PMI-PBA certification.

$81,873.99 / 81.873,99$ - $95,519.66 / 95.519,66$ (per year / par an) Final pay within this range will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, and the geographic location of the role.
