The Opportunity

As a leader in digital financial services, our customer and employee experiences run on data. We depend on the Ally analytics community to fuel these journeys and to help nearly 10,000 leaders and employees make countless data-driven decisions every day. Our analytics community has hundreds of analytics professionals across Ally in communities focused on business analytics, data science, R, Python, Power BI and more and continues to grow every day. We are looking for a dynamic and self driven individual with excellent communication skills and a background in business analytics, and strong logic and problem solving. This position's responsibility is centered on loss forecasting for our indirect automotive portfolio and using analytics capabilities to understand key Business Metrics. The ideal candidate would be detail oriented, with ability to sift through voluminous amounts of information to pinpoint which items are relevant to understanding Business results.

The Work Itself

  • Manage complex models to forecast key metrics for the Business and will be a key point of contact for the Auto Business's Forecast, stress testing and loss reserving routines.
  • Analyze monthly results, seasonal trends, and variances; identify problems and research potential recommendations for adjustments to Forecast.
  • Apply sound control processes into daily/weekly/monthly processes to effectively identify, assess, and manage risk.
  • Maintain code logic to query for data, sanitize, aggregate, conform, and produce forecasts for various metrices accurately.
  • Perform portfolio analytics, special projects, drill --down analysis and other duties as needed.
  • Present Forecast and Business Plan to leadership in forecast review calls
  • Collaboratively work with other team members to ensure alignment on Business Forecast and expectations. Interface with various stakeholders within credit risk, finance and Strategy teams to incorporate inputs and insights into forecast.
  • Apply knowledge of business and balanced judgment in interpretation of data (analytics).


The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree; BS or BA in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Information Technology or related field.
  • 1+ years' experience in similar or equivalent position required.
  • Experience and knowledge of consumer financing industry (e.g. auto, card, mortgage etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of data querying and analytical techniques.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and models preferred.
  • Candidate should possess outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • SAS and/or SQL knowledge required.
  • Quick learner and has demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and execute small to medium scale projects.
  • Work well within a team of analysts and collaborate with individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Candidate must have strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present material.
  • Experience in automotive or financial services industry is a plus.

Base Pay Range : $65000 - $115000 USD

An individual's position in the range is determined by the specific role, the scope and responsibilities of the role, work experience, education, certification(s), training, and additional qualifications. Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan.
