Reports to the President Base Salary + Performance Bonus + Long Term Incentive Potential

This is a roll-up-your-sleeves finance leadership role inside a growing industrial distribution business. If you want to own the numbers, improve the processes, and sit at the table with operators - this is it.
The Role

The VP of Finance is a hands-on finance leader who will own financial planning, analysis, and reporting - while being a true partner to the operations, sales, and leadership teams driving the business forward.

This is not a corner-office role. You will be expected to dig into the data, understand how the business actually works, identify what needs to change, and drive it. This role sits on the executive team - you are an integral part of how this business runs, grows, and makes decisions. You serve as a strategic thought partner to the President.

The right person is equal parts analyst and operator - someone who asks hard questions, builds trust with frontline leaders, and knows that great finance work shows up in business performance, not just in reports.
What You'll Do

Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process by business segment, providing visibility across all locations and business units
  • Build and maintain monthly forecasts, financial models, and operating dashboards that leaders actually use
  • Analyze segment profitability, margin trends, and cost structure - and push for the changes that improve them

Operational Finance
  • Embed with Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain - understand their world, earn their trust, and hold them accountable
  • Develop pricing and margin analytics to protect and grow profitability
  • Monitor inventory performance, working capital, and cash flow with a bias toward action
  • Translate financial data into clear, direct insights that shape operational decisions

Financial Reporting & Systems
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting with real variance analysis - not just variance reporting
  • Strengthen and expand NetSuite reporting and financial analytics capabilities
  • Build the financial infrastructure and controls the business needs as it doubles and triples in size

Strategic & Growth Initiatives
  • Partner with the President on acquisitions - financial modeling, due diligence, and integration planning
  • Evaluate capital investments and strategic opportunities with rigor and speed
  • Help define what AMG's finance function needs to look like at $100M, $250M, and beyond

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Work closely with the accounting team to ensure strong day-to-day financial operations
  • Build a culture of financial accountability across every part of the business
  • Identify process gaps, call them out, and fix them

Requirements

Who We're Looking For

We want a finance leader who has outgrown being just a finance leader. You are analytical and operationally grounded. You ask why, not just what. You are comfortable walking a warehouse floor and presenting to a board in the same day.

You will be a great fit if you:
  • Have progressive finance experience with increasing scope and responsibility
  • Are sharp in financial modeling, FP&A, and business partnering - and have the scars to prove it
  • Have built or significantly improved budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes from the ground up
  • Are energized by working inside a growing, fast-moving organization - not slowed down by it
  • Can see a broken process, own fixing it, and bring others along
  • Communicate financial findings in plain language and earn credibility with non-finance leaders
  • Take initiative - you identify what needs to change before being asked

Nice-to-haves (not required):
  • Experience in value-added distribution, industrial distribution, or manufacturing
  • Exposure to NetSuite or ERP-based financial reporting and analytics
  • Experience supporting M&A analysis, due diligence, or post-acquisition integration
  • CPA or MBA

Benefits
  • Competitive Pay and Benefits (including 401k matching, PTO, medical, dental, and vision insurance)
  • Direct partnership with the President and leadership team - your work will matter immediately
  • Real ownership of the finance function in a business that is actively scaling
  • Backed by Kanbrick, a long-term investor that supports operational excellence and growth
  • Acquisition activity means you will be an active and strategic participant in M&A
  • You will build the financial infrastructure to enable achieving the organization's strategic ambitions and potential
