Nemours is seeking an Ambulatory Operations Manager in Jacksonville, FL.

The Ambulatory Operations Manager will have operational oversight of practice for designated service lines within the department. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Ambulatory Operations Manager oversees the administrative and operational activities designated divisions across North FL and across all functions.

The Ambulatory Operations Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing a cohesive administrative and operational infrastructure for these cross-disciplinary specialties which includes physician practice and hospital partnerships; identifying opportunities to improve the patient and family service experience; assuring patient and associate safety; and establishing collaborative relationships with various departments and managers within Florida and across the Nemours Foundation in support of specialty providers. The Ambulatory Operations Manager, in collaboration with specialties Director of Operations, Chairs/Chiefs and Nurse Manager, is responsible for representing administration as appropriate and assuring compliance with all applicable law and regulatory requirements affecting the areas of responsibility.

Essential Functions

Operational Management:
  1. Works with the specialties chiefs and nurse managers to provide administrative and operational oversight of all divisions, programs, and sites organized within the specialties.
  2. In collaboration with the Director and Division Chiefs, monitors expenses, collects and analyzes operational data to assist Director in decision making for all areas of responsibility encompassed by service lines.
  3. In collaboration with the Specialties Leaders and its leadership team, recommends a sufficient number of qualified/competent persons and other resources (including space) to provide necessary services, support all sites and initiatives, and to accommodate planned growth.
  4. Manages staff, oversees their work product, coach, mentor, train, and develops their teams. Conducts performance reviews, creates and sets annual goals with individual team members.
  5. Interprets, and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  6. Collaborates effectively with providers to deliver quality care in a family-centered model in a cost-effective and efficient manner. Monitors initiatives including compliance with established efficiency benchmarks including charge capture and delays, RVU productivity, chart documentation, etc.
  7. Participates in the organization's service excellence and continuous improvement mission.
  8. Communicates with physicians and other providers to determine effectiveness of the service delivery system, i.e. efficiency and optimizations of clinical schedules and templating, of the various departments that support providers' activity.
  9. Communicates effectively with clinical leaders, Director of Operations, Site Practice Administrator, CMO, and VP, Operations. Review issues and update on progress towards meeting established personnel and center goals. As appropriate, identifies problems in the area of responsibility and resolves or presents recommended actions to the Director of Operations, FL Site Practice Administrator, Department Chair, CMO, and VP, Operations.

Human Resources:
  1. Recruits, hires, evaluates, disciplines, and recommends salary actions and adjustments for personnel for the units encompassed by the specialties.
  2. Responsible for the orientation and continuing education of all people reporting to the position.
  3. Assures safe work practices are used by all associates of the specialties and promotes a positive work attitude within the department and practice and treats associates with respect, dignity and fairness while maintaining accountability.
  4. Assures compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Experience in healthcare management is required.
  • Demonstrated record of progressively responsible administrative experience in health care, preferably pediatric or specialty related.
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively with physician and administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in applying performance improvement methodologies and project team facilitation.
  • Relevant experience in the presentation of written and oral materials, interaction with Medical Leadership, Administration and self-directed project completion.
