Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittently sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves risk of injuries from use of equipment on the job; working in confined spaces; and exposure to blood-borne or airborne pathogens, hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and cuts/punctures.

Shift

Clinic-based, day shift, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 7:00-5:30p.m.

Job Summary

This position will support the rheumatology ambulatory clinic in the management of patients requiring Specialty Pharmacy medications. Strong clinical oversight and patient education are mandatory for high-functioning specialty pharmacies. The pharmacist will improve clinic workflow, increase patient satisfaction, and increase the volume of specialty medications dispensed through UK pharmacies. This position will provide a high patient-touch service while obtaining affordable access to these medications, establish safe practices for infusion therapy handling, as well as collaborating and communicating with multidisciplinary team members involved in providing services to patients.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of inpatient drug distribution and dispensing; ability to prioritize; excellent communication skills; a "team" mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.
