Job Summary

Airframe & Powerplant Manager oversees and plans the maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of airframe and powerplant systems and devices on remotely piloted air vehicles. Oversees the day-to-day activities of the airframe and powerplant area, including, personnel planning, training and supervision, development of work assignments, and the coordination of product flow through the department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and company policy. Provides advanced technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Supervises and trains subordinates who provide mechanical support and troubleshooting for air vehicles.
  • Monitors and schedules testing and inspection at the system level to ensure flight safety.
  • Primary interface with other departments (integration, pilots, maintenance, avionics) to ensure production delivery and flight test schedules are met.
  • Coordinate activities with engineering, manufacturing, and quality departments to ensure proper configurations.
  • Ensures efficient support of Company and customer schedules through deployments of personnel.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate procedures for training and flight line operations. Develops and utilizes departmental standards and procedures. Seeks methods to improve product quality, reliability and efficiency. Ensures accurate time charging. Inspects work in progress and finished products.
  • Manages and actively participates in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required management, professional, and technical talent.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work and lead the workplace in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a related technical field and six or more years of progressive professional experience in manufacturing. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate an detailed understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures and planning and scheduling methods as well as the ability to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established milestones and budgets.
  • Must be customer focused and possess:
    • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of complex matters of diverse scope and nature.
    • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including senior management and external parties.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees.
    • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • The ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects.
    • Strong computer skills.
  • The ability to work independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel is required.
