Description

Planner - Aircraft Tooling leverages advanced data analytics and technical expertise to drive the development, procurement, and strategic allocation of all aircraft tooling to meet United's operational demands and schedules, while taking full ownership of tooling planning efforts for designated fleet(s) and tooling families. Utilizes data-driven insights and analytical tools to establish and enforce standard tooling requirements for each fleet type and mission, and actively maintains comprehensive inventories of non-standard tools requested by stations through robust database management systems. Applies technical proficiency in inventory management systems and logistics platforms to lead tooling logistics systemwide and directly coordinate all tool movement operations. Analyzes performance metrics and operational data to build and strengthen partnerships with customers (station toolrooms) and vendors, cultivating ongoing relationships through data-informed decision-making. Champions continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives by leveraging predictive analytics, process optimization techniques, and technical problem-solving skills to deliver measurable results in aircraft tooling efficiency and effectivene

  • Work closely with Tooling Long-term Planning group to leverage data analytics and forecasting models to assess tooling requirements at each station based on fleet type and maintenance missions, utilizing technical analysis to ensure tooling availability and minimize related OOS events
  • Utilize data-driven evaluation frameworks and analytical tools to send Request for Quote (RFQ), assess and negotiate price points/lead times, and prioritize purchase urgency from a multitude of external tool vendors while analyzing historical data and performance metrics to maintain target service levels for tool requests
  • Responsible for the assignment of Property Control (PC) numbers and establish asset tracking requirements through database management systems, utilizing technical proficiency in inventory tracking platforms to ensure that receipt to bin times on new tools meet targets through data monitoring and analysis
  • Collaborate with Line/Base maintenance operations to manage the tooling system distribution using SCEPTRE/eTIPS, applying technical expertise and data analytics to provide OSV and line maintenance with required specialized tooling, and conduct data-driven reviews of surplus and spare tooling stock on a continual basis using inventory optimization algorithms to minimize excessive inventory
  • Provide special project support as assigned, leveraging data analytics platforms and technical tools to initiate and execute processes and application improvements, develop data-driven training programs, and implement other activities to improve the productivity of the Company's tooling assets through quantitative analysis and performance metrics
  • Evaluate current tooling footprint against potential expansion plans using advanced analytical research methodologies, predictive modeling, and data visualization tools to identify allocation opportunities based on thorough statistical analysis and technical assessment in partnership with other tooling stakeholders
  • Support QA/QC audits and perform periodic tooling audits throughout operation utilizing data collection systems, audit management software, and analytical frameworks to track compliance metrics, identify trends, and generate actionable insights from audit findings


Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • BA/BS Degree in Supply Chain or quantitative field, e.g. Data Analytics, Engineering, Economics
  • Experience with process improvement or CI
  • 1+ years of experience in a Planning environment
  • Analytical approach to problem solving with attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SQL, and ability to read engineering documents
  • Background and technical knowledge of aviation maintenance and maintenance programs
  • Must be able to work independently and in a Team Environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for various audiences, including senior leadership
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • Master's degree or 6 years of relevant work experience
  • MS/MA degree in quantitave field
  • Line or Base Aircraft Maintenance experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Certified Black Belt
  • 3 years of experience as a Tactical, Line, or Field Planner
  • 3 years in Line or Base Maintenance environments
  • 3 years in a role that includes working with a unionized labor workforce
  • Advanced SQL, advanced Spotfire or Foundry, experience with financial & Ap business intelligence tools, experience with maintenance information systems.
  • Exposure to AI principles and applications
  • Proficiency in Python or other programming languages
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations and familiar with applicable FAA regulations (Part 121 and 145)
  • Proficient in using AMM's and the ability to read and Interpret Tool Drawings as needed
