Vice President, AI Security Governance

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, AI Security Governance to join our Core AI Security team within the Information Security Division. This role can be in Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary,FL.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing operation of AI Security Governance practices across BNY, helping ensure AI systems are designed, reviewed, deployed, and monitored in alignment with security standards, risk requirements, and enterprise governance expectations.
  • Partner with AI security architects, engineering teams, risk partners, technology owners, and business stakeholders to review AI use cases, identify security considerations, document control expectations, and help drive consistent governance outcomes.
  • Assist in evaluating AI system components, including models, data pipelines, orchestration layers, APIs, plugins, agents, identity integrations, infrastructure dependencies, and third-party services, with a focus on security governance, risk visibility, and control alignment.
  • Contribute to governance processes for AI security tools and controls, including model security testing, prompt and response protection, data leakage prevention, access controls, logging, monitoring, vulnerability management, and secure configuration practices.
  • Maintain clear governance documentation, decision records, control mappings, standards, and reporting materials that help technical teams follow requirements and help management understand AI security posture, key risks, and progress against remediation activities.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience in information security or related technology experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus
  • Experience in information security, technology risk, security governance, cloud security, application security, infrastructure security, or a related cybersecurity discipline, preferably within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Basic understanding of AI system components and AI security considerations, including models, training and inference workflows, data flows, APIs, agents, prompt handling, model outputs, and third-party AI services.
  • Working knowledge of AI security tools, network and systems architecture, identity and access management practices, secure development practices, vulnerability management, logging, monitoring, and common security best practices.
  • Ability to translate technical security requirements into clear governance artifacts, control expectations, procedures, management updates, and practical guidance for engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, documentation, and analytical skills, with the ability to work across security, technology, risk, compliance, legal, and business teams to drive consistent AI security governance outcomes.

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee's eligible dependents.
