Overview

Job Summary:

The Director, AI Enablement will help lead the organization’s shift from AI experimentation to measurable business impact by reimagining how work, talent, and organizational capabilities are designed and enabled. This role is responsible for embedding workflow redesign into our culture, aligning with AI leaders, and operationalizing AI-enabled solutions across functions to drive business outcomes.

This is not a traditional technology, training, or process improvement role. It sits at the intersection of business strategy, AI enablement, workflow design, and change leadership. This role serves as a key catalyst for organizational innovation and workforce transformation. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who can deconstruct complex work, partner with business leaders to define measurable outcomes, and work closely with AI, Engineering, Data, IT, Security, and functional teams. They will align workforce capabilities with business priorities, strengthen foundational skills, culture, and organizational agility and move innovative ideas from concept to adoption.

Success in this role means helping the business use AI not just to work faster, but fundamentally work differently.

Reporting Structure:

This role typically reports to the VP, People Business Partners

Work Setting:

This role is typically performed remotely

Is role a people leader?

No

Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

Lead AI-Enabled Workflow Redesign
  • Partner with business leaders to identify high-value workflows where AI can improve speed, quality, cost, service, risk, or growth outcomes.
  • Map and deconstruct current-state workflows, including handoffs, decision points, manual effort, rework, bottlenecks, and data dependencies.
  • Redesign workflows to clarify what work should be automated, AI-assisted, human-owned, eliminated, or elevated.
  • Ensure AI opportunities are tied to measurable business outcomes, not just tool adoption or experimentation.
  • Help functions prioritize a small number of high-impact opportunities rather than spreading effort across disconnected pilots.
Translate Business Problems into AI-Enabled Solutions
  • Serve as a translator between business teams and technical partners, ensuring business needs are clearly translated into technical requirements, workflow logic, user stories, and success measures.
  • Determine whether opportunities are best solved through process improvement, automation, deterministic/light-build solutions, full engineering delivery, or AI at runtime.
  • Partner with AI Forward-Deployed Engineers, Engineering, IT, Data, and Security to shape practical, scalable, and responsible solutions.
  • Support the creation of prototypes, pilots, and first working “skeletons” that can be tested and improved with the business.
Operationalize AI Cross-Functionally
  • Build repeatable patterns, templates, and playbooks that help functions move from idea to build to adoption.
  • Support function-level AI planning, including workflow prioritization, metric commitments, resource needs, risk review, and handoff plans.
  • Ensure AI-enabled workflows have clear owners, human-in-the-loop / AI Operator responsibilities, escalation paths, and long-term operating expectations.
  • Help transition AI-enabled solutions from initial build or pilot into sustainable function ownership.
  • Partner with PMO / Program Management to track progress, unblock issues, and ensure AI initiatives remain connected to enterprise priorities.
Drive Adoption and Behavior Change
  • Partner with the People team (HR), Learning, Communications, and functional leaders to build the capabilities required for AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Help managers understand how their role changes as workflows increasingly include AI tools, agents, automation, and human oversight.
  • Support training and enablement for Power Users, Workflow Designers, Citizen Builders, and AI Managers.
  • Identify adoption barriers and recommend practical interventions to improve usage, trust, accountability, and measurable impact.
  • Reinforce responsible AI practices, including appropriate use, human judgment, data sensitivity, and escalation protocols.
Measure Value and Scale What Works
  • Define baseline metrics and target improvements for AI-enabled workflow initiatives.
  • Track value realization across efficiency, quality, cycle time, cost avoidance, revenue impact, customer/member experience, and employee capacity.
  • Partner with Finance, Data, and business leaders to validate impact and create a consistent approach to AI value measurement.
  • Capture lessons learned from pilots and translate them into reusable playbooks, standards, and future-state operating model recommendations.
  • Recommend which solutions should scale, stop, or be redesigned based on evidence and business value.
