Our client is seeking a visionary and strategic AI leader to drive responsible, high-impact AI adoption across multiple functions, including Commercial, R&D, and Operations. As the Director of AI Strategy, you will serve as an essential partner to senior leadership, shaping enterprise-wide AI roadmaps, managing risk, and establishing governance frameworks that ensure safe, effective, and compliant AI integration. Compensation:
$220,000.00 - $250,000.00 annually

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders across Commercial, R&D, and Operations to identify strategic priorities and craft multi-year AI roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.
  • Curate and manage an enterprise AI opportunity portfolio, evaluating value potential, costs, risks, and sequencing.
  • Analyze external trends and technological advances in AI, translating insights into actionable strategies that impact business outcomes.
  • Establish and refine enterprise-wide AI governance processes to mitigate risks related to data, ethics, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the development and implementation of AI policies, standards, and SOPs, ensuring alignment with quality management systems and enterprise controls.
  • Design and deliver AI literacy initiatives, fostering an organization-wide culture of informed and safe AI use, including role-specific training and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive adoption by creating a network of AI champions and cultivating a community of practice focused on responsible AI deployment.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to monitor AI project impacts, refine success metrics, and report on measurable outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree, PhD, or higher in a relevant field, with a minimum of 10+ years experience in AI, ML, Data Science, or Analytics.
  • Proven success in developing organizational AI strategies and implementing change management initiatives.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences sectors, with hands-on experience across multiple functional domains.
  • Extensive knowledge of AI technologies (ML, GenAI, NLP) and enterprise governance frameworks, including risk management, validation, monitoring, and measurement of AI value.
  • Strong understanding of industry-specific regulatory and compliance considerations, such as data privacy, GxP, and medical/legal review processes.
  • Exceptional ability to engage with executive stakeholders, influence cross-functional teams, and translate technical concepts into strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated success in leading teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Educational background includes a relevant advanced degree and experience in managing large, regulated data projects.
