Overview:

The Advisor, leads all APLL CLS network initiatives associated with operations management compliance with APLL Labor Management program. This role will develop and manage APLL's labor management program to achieve labor savings. The advisor will review, evaluate, and analyze data gathered by each CLS site. This role will perform and complete analysis of data, and provide operations management and engineering staff with reports, analytics, and recommendations. The Advisor will also work with CLS management and operations owners and counsel them on action plans and corrective measures.

  • Lead the definition, development, implementation of a uniform Labor Management Program across all APLL CLS sites in America's region.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of corporate CLS labor management guidelines and labor savings target
  • Lead APLL process design and re-engineering initiatives for CLS new and existing CLS operations.
  • Defines and sets labor standards for APLL CLS network
  • Develops and maintains re-deployable templates for job functions in the APLL CLS network
  • Plans, leads and manages the deployment of Labor Management System solution (LMS) for all CLS sites.
  • Counsels CLS Sr Management Team. Responsible for completing network and site analysis of labor productivity trends. This role will have a network view of site trends and will develop a communication protocol with Directors), GM and Operators to review and raise concerns and provide recommendations on periodical basis.
  • Champion process improvement initiatives from data analysis from LMS reports, operations trends, and site engineering observations. This role is responsible to coordinate any changes associated with a particular site. Over time, job functions, activities within a site may require updates or changes to the previously set labor standards. These changes will need to be coordinated and executed through this role to ensure adherence to Labor Management Program guidelines
  • Project Management of special projects that requires outside contractors (such as analyst, industrial engineers, software vendors, etc.) as required to assure APL Logistics is consistently updating and including the most current best practices. This role shares responsibility with IT product manager for LMS solution. Any upgrade, improvement or enhancement will need to be managed by this role as this role must advocate for the CLS operations and avoid any impact on their day to day.
  • Serve as the expert on work methods, engineered standards, best practices, performance coaching, and systems as it relates to the labor management program
  • Develops and maintains training program for management teams. This role is responsible to evaluate and ensure that all operations teams are properly using the tools provided to attain productivity goals and labor savings
  • Partners with HR and Legal teams as needed to assure Labor Management Systems conform to applicable local laws
  • Develops internship projects and supports the hiring and retention of engineering talent
  • Other duties as required and assigned


Key Result Areas:
  • Deployment of a uniform and consistent CLS network labor management program
  • Challenge CLS operations management team to meet labor savings targets through adoption of labor management standards program and introduction of best labor practices and productivity tracking.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas in the development of flexible, suitable, innovative, and cost-effective engineered solutions
  • Improved visibility into the Americas Warehouse operations productivity tracking and reporting through a newly developed network database and dashboard.
  • Development of an Americas network of Labor Management System facility or account level subject matter experts/ Super Users
  • Development of a sustainable training and mentorship program for CLS operations General Managers, Operations Managers, and Supervisors in the extraction and analysis of Labor Management data.
  • Partner with APLL engineering design team in the development of labor standards for all required warehouse functions in the network
  • Attraction, retention, and development of engineering talent via internship programs
  • Conduct research on market trends: reporting tools, LMS functionalities, incentive pay programs, etc.


Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Preferred minimum 5 years of work experience in 3PL warehousing, distribution centre or fulfilment experience
  • Proven knowledge and experience conducting work measurements in DC operations
  • Lean training
  • Six Sigma training - Green Belt certification preferred
  • Experience setting up and deploying labor management programs and LMS applications in multiple sites
  • Experience managing integrations of LMS systems with time and payroll platforms
  • In depth knowledge of labor planning and labor management (LMS) techniques in an operational environment.
  • Experience driving productivity initiatives using Labor Management software
  • Knowledge of MOST or MTM standards
  • Experience setting up and deploying incentive pay programs
  • Experience developing and maintaining network performance dashboards using business-intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau; experience with SQL, Python, or similar analytics tools is preferred

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.

The typical starting salary range for this position is: $100,000 - $110,000.

The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.

Work Location Requirement - APL Logistics
Employees residing within 25 miles of an APL Logistics Hub Office (AZ, FL, MI, NC, OR) are required to follow a designated Hybrid schedule as described below: Fully on-site, or fully remote schedules are determined based on role and business needs.
• Hybrid employees must report to the office 8 days per month, scheduled by their supervisor.
• Warehouse roles are typically fully on-site.
• Candidates outside the 25-mile radius may be considered for fully remote roles, depending on business needs.
Remote work requires full compliance with company policies, including workspace standards, timekeeping, and communication protocols. Commuting costs are not reimbursed. Adherence to this policy is a condition of employment.
