  • Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and take on-call responsibilities

Full Job Description
Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our orthopedic trauma surgery advanced practice provider, you will join our collegial healthcare team at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA. Our new provider will be joining a collegial team of providers with board certified orthopedic surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers.

 

Every day you will provide compassionate and expert care, conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex diseases, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegial and supportive environment. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities include: 

  • Assists in the surgical suite including first assist, deep and superficial wound closure, application of internal devices and any other procedures delegated by the supervising orthopedic surgeon
  • Performs pre-operative and post-operative care in clinics
  • Performs comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
  • Interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests in clinics
  • Formulates a treatment plan for orthopedic conditions within their scope of practice
  • Exercises judgment on conditions requiring consultation, referral or evaluation by the supervising orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals
  • Orders, collects and performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies, such as routine laboratory tests, EMG, electrocardiogram and radiologic examinations including arthrogram, ultrasound, CT, MRI and bone scan studies
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as aspirations and injections of joints, bursars and cysts.
  • Applies braces, casts, splints and other orthopedic appliances
  • Conducts hospital rounds, writes orders, takes call and sees patients in the ED for the orthopedic surgeon if needed

Average schedule is Monday-Friday consisting of OR (surgery) with clinic/hospital work.  

 

Compensation range:  $125,818 - $177,876  /year DOE, plus productivity incentive potential. 

Job Requirements

Required:

  • One-year experience required as a practicing ARNP or Physician Assistant
  • Surgical experience as an APP is preferred
  • Washington State license in good standing
  • Board certified 
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
