ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our General Cardiology subsection. This position focuses exclusively on outpatient care, working closely with cardiology faculty and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care.
- Conduct outpatient clinic visits, including new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and chronic disease management.
- Perform thorough cardiovascular assessments, including history, physical examination, and interpretation of ECGs and common non-invasive tests.
- Manage a variety of general cardiology conditions including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and heart failure in the ambulatory setting.
- Educate patients and families on cardiovascular disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and follow-up plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to optimize treatment plans and care coordination.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (Epic).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and educational activities as appropriate.
