Full Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide direct patient care, assist with surgical procedures, and contribute to research and education initiatives and will primarily support patients at the League City location with additional responsibilities at the Texas Medical Center campus. This position will function in the outpatient clinic setting as well as the operating room. UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The ideal candidate will have preferred experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in Urology, including at least two years of APP experience. Candidates should be committed to delivering patient-centered care, collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, and supporting both outpatient and surgical patient populations. New graduate applications will also be considered.

Advanced Practice Provider - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) - Urology

Salary: Minimum $117,500.00 - Midpoint $146,500.00 - Maximum $176,500.00

The typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, with opportunities to moonlight on weekends.
Work Location: League City (primary location) and Texas Medical Center (secondary location)

Key Responsibilities
The primary function of the Physician Assistant is to assist supervising physicians in providing direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care. Demonstrate care that is effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of wellness. Counsel and educate patients and their families about disease and illness.
The position functions in both the outpatient clinic setting and the operating room. Work locations include the League City location and the Texas Medical Center campus.

Patient Assessment & Care Management • Obtain medical histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations • Assess, triage, and manage patient care needs as part of an interdisciplinary team • Interpret diagnostic testing and radiographic results in collaboration with faculty physicians • Develop and implement patient management plans • Document and dictate patient encounters in the medical record • Counsel and educate patients and families regarding disease processes and treatment plans.

Diagnostic Evaluation & Treatment Planning • Review and order diagnostic studies and imaging as clinically appropriate • Evaluate test and radiographic results to support patient care decisions • Formulate patient treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians • Monitor patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed • Prescribe treatments and medications in accordance with institutional and state requirements

Surgical Support & Procedures • Perform as a first or second assist during operative procedures • Utilize fine motor skills and manual dexterity in surgical settings • Perform approved clinical procedures within scope of practice • Support perioperative patient care activities

Patient Communication & Coordination • Screen and manage physician calls from patients and families • Provide education regarding care plans, treatment recommendations, and available resources • Coordinate care across clinical teams and settings • Promote timely and effective communication among patients, families, and providers
Research & Additional Duties • Collaborate on research projects and clinical initiatives • Assist with protocol development and implementation • Apply research findings to clinical practice • Support departmental goals and special projects
Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.

Licensure/Certification
REQUIRED: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.

PREFERRED: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
