Full Job Description
To Perform clinical patient care dutiesUT MD Anderson is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to support Lymphoma-Myeloma. The Advanced Practice Provider delivers comprehensive clinical care in an outpatient and inpatient setting, partnering closely with attending physicians to manage patients across the continuum of care. This Advanced Practice Provider role includes direct patient care, clinical documentation, care coordination, and a wide range of diagnostic and treatment support activities.

Salary Range: $117,500 - $146,500 - $176,500

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

The ideal candidate brings strong clinical training and experience in patient assessment, documentation, and coordination of oncology care to include prior hematology/oncology experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Patient Care
• Provide quality patient care aligned with diagnosis, treatment plan, age group, development, and identified needs
• Perform outpatient clinical duties including preliminary assessments of new and follow-up patients
• Evaluate clinic and Emergency Center "drop-in" patients
• Conduct physical examinations and assess patient eligibility as needed
• Assume responsibility for clinic patients during physician absence or reassignment

Documentation & Orders
• Dictate clinic progress notes for follow-up patients and consultation notes for new consults
• Dictate PMEs for new patients
• Write admission notes and orders for hospitalized patients
• Write outpatient orders including chemotherapy, IV fluids, transfusions, and growth factors
• Document patient information and clinical findings for physician review

Care Coordination & Support
• Assist with clinic-related paperwork including x-ray requests, scheduling, prescriptions, and chemotherapy orders
• Coordinate biopsies, consultations, and retrieval of lab, x-ray, and pathology reports
• Contact consulting physicians and support interdisciplinary communication
• Screen patient phone calls and escalate to physician when appropriate

Inpatient & Cross Coverage Support
• Assist physician with inpatient care as needed
• Work with alternate physician during assigned physician absence
• Attend department meetings related to patient care
• Support physician-directed activities during non-clinic hours

Additional Duties
• Screen patients for eligibility and assist in preparation of chemotherapy orders during non-clinic hours
• Obtain charts and imaging for clinical analysis
• Perform bone marrow aspiration procedures
• Complete additional patient care and administrative duties as assigned by Medical Director or attending physician

Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003.
Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.

Physician Assistant
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.

EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.

Required:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
All of the following:
Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Basic Life Support (BLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100).
MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Physician Assistant
All of the following:
PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.

MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
