What we need

We are seeking an Advanced Industrial Controls Engineer. The candidate is part of our Industrial Automation team and will be reporting to the Senior Manager Industrial Controls Engineering and have a leadership role in driving the execution of the PLC development and implementation. The ideal candidate is customer driven and proactive fetching information and discuss with the end user.

What you'll do

  • Elaborate, define, and plan technical work from well-defined objectives, validating requirements with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Elaborate and lead the execution of test strategies, execute test plan, generate test reports, and demonstrate compliance with requirements.


  • Independently execute technical work, which may involve the technical supervision of other resources.


  • Autonomous and self-driving, requiring minimal supervision.


  • Lead improvement initiatives, review and approve technical solutions within existing architectures.


  • Coach and develop lesser experienced employees.


  • Gather information and validate requirements to execute root cause analysis to resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders.


  • Provide new control system functionalities and modify existing solutions which includes PLC and HMI.


  • Document equipment configuration, system functionality and features, and Industrial Controls team processes and procedures.


  • Collaborate with Release management and perform PLC and HMI updates for the customer, on-site or remotely.


  • Support customers to address unforeseen issues.


  • Lead the design effort for a dedicated system.


  • Contribute to and potentially lead process improvement initiatives.


  • Support Production Sites.


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Automation Engineer or Computer science or in a related discipline.


  • Knowledge of Power Systems to design drive controls.


  • Experience with AC/DC Drive Control Architecture.


  • Minimum of 5 years in Design & Implementation of Industrial Control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and Drives.


  • Minimum of 5 years' of Programming PLCs, HMIs, and related equipment for Industrial Control Systems (Rockwell products preferred).


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with automated systems engineering.


  • Advanced experience programming Rockwell PLC's (ControlLogix, GuardLogix).


  • Advanced knowledge of Industrial networks.


  • Experience developing and programming Human Machine Interface (Ignition 8, FactoryTalk ME/SE).


  • Able to understand and read electrical and mechanical schematics.


  • Strong background in troubleshooting complex automated system.


  • Experience with JIRA and agile methodology is a plus.


  • Having experience of organizing a team and prioritizing tasks.


  • Knowledge in Rockwell and Inductive Automation products is a plus.


  • Travel approximatively 40% to various customer locations (Canada and United States).


Our environment

  • Up to 45% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.


  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $120,000.00 - $165,000.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
